Wishing you a New Year filled with LIGHT & Love
[So… I usually send out a “New Year’s Gifts” email separately from my Deb’s Picks which typically goes out a few days before the Full Moon, but since they’re just 2 days apart, you’re getting them both here. Not to mention the fact that my brain has been pretty fuzzy the last few weeks (for reasons you’ll read about below), and it was all I could do to get one email out, much less two!]
I’m finding it a litte tough to offer the traditional “Happy New Year!” greetings this year. If you’re on our holiday card list or connected with me on social media, you know it’s been a challenging holiday season.
The Saturday before Christmas, I tore the meniscus in my left knee… wish I could say it was doing something exciting, but I was just walking down the street.(and no, it’s not my beautiful new right knee that was replaced back in January!) So, I’ve had to scrap a bunch of fun plans and lay low. Then, the Saturday after Christmas, my husband Peter’s twin brother, Alan, died. He’d had a series of strokes in the last few months and was declining, but it’s still a seismic shock.
Feeling it all, and remembering…
If you’ve known me for more than 5 minutes, you know I’m a pretty positive person — heck, I’m even trained in Positive Intelligence™ and Joy Intelligence™! But I also know how important it is to “feel all the feels”, to not “stuff” them.
So, in the midst of all this, I’m also able — some days better than others — to revel in some of the funny memories with Alan and, more recently, to remember what a very special family I have… that’s them above in Peter’s always-creative holiday card this year (look closely and see if you figure out which are our own kids and which are the grandkiddos!).
AND remember the beautiful Christmas Eve dinner with one branch of the family and magical Christmas Day with my whole, big, loving family — all 20+ of us! Which includes our matriarch, my mom, fully present, though slowed-down, at age 95.
AND of course, SO many wonderful friends and soul-sisters, far and wide… AND work I love… AND a (normally) healthy body… the list goes on.
Cancer Full Moon and emotional reality
And then I had to smile cuz the theme for my Full Moon TeleMeditation on Friday is “emotional reality” — a perfect blend of Cancer (honoring our emotions) and Capricorn (grounding ourselves in reality) energies. I feel like I’ve been writing about these kinds of paradoxes alot this year (holding grief and joy, embracing aloneness and connection).
