Deb’s Picks for the Aquarius Full Moon — Delighting in Quirky Creativity

I love that word “quirky“… even the sound of it is a little outlandish! It’s a word I often used when I’m talking about the energy of Aquarius. It’s about being unique, radical, maybe even revolutionary.

It’s like the Madonna song– “This is who I am, you can like it or not. You can love me or leave me, but I’m never gonna stop.“

As I’ve described in past Deb’s Picks, when I “discovered“ the Divine Feminine almost 35 years ago, it hit me like a ton of bricks, as in “oh, this is what’s been missing for me“. Then came studing Tarot and other ancient symbol systems and getting cerfified as a Counseling Astrologer.

For the first 10 years or so, I tread lightly, not sharing any of this too far outside of my supportive world… After all, what was this good little white bread, mainstream WASP girl from upstate New York doing exploring all of this woo-woo stuff?!

And now? I’ve been leading women’s New Moon circles for the last 30 years (that’s one above from a magical circle in Central Park a few years ago), my YouTube channel is filled with videos about seasonal rituals & goddesses from around the world, and I blog and teach about all of it. Quirky indeed, at least to a big swath of the “civilized” world!

(For more on my journey from mainstream to woo-hoo, check out my Deb’s Picks last year for this Full Moon!)

How about you? What unique gifts, talents, or revelations have awakened in you that you’re finally ready to unleash?

When the upcoming Full Moon on July 29th shines down on us, we have a powerful opportunity to combine that “gotta be me”, Aquarian impulse with the fire-y, creative, playful energy of the Sun in Leo.

In fact, there are some particularly powerful cosmic zingers that accompany this Full Moon. I don’t usually go deep into the astrology of the Full Moons, but this one is particularly powerful. Pluto, the planet of transformation, will be dancing cheek to cheek with the Moon in Aquarius that day which hasn’t happened since the French Revolution. AND the Sun in Leo will be conjunct Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion.

Remember that you can feel the Full Moon energy for several days before and after it’s peak. So, hang on to your seat and watch how that all manifests in your life and in the world!

Be sure to tune into our Aquarius Full Moon TeleMeditation on Wed., July 29th at Noon — click HERE for details on how to join us. Hope to “hear” you then!

(And after that, I’d love for you to come my upcoming Leo New Moon SisterCircle through the Wellness Universe on Wed., August 12th when we’ll be Playing with our Inner Queen”. )

Finally, for my Deb’s Picks this month, I decided to zero in particularly on the “out-of-box” (Aquarius) ways that we can explore our creative self expression (Leo). Enjoy!

ELDERLY FASHION DANCE – SURREAL AI MUSIC VIDEO

One of my creative friends turned me on to this YouTube channel “where artificial intelligence meets surreal imagination”. Each video blends generative art, AI animation, and cinematic storytelling… talk about quirky creativity! Check this one out, explore the other ones and be prepared to be blown away and delighted.

NY BOTANICAL GARDEN FLOWER POWER SHOW

I’m so psyched to explore this groovy, colorful flower show that highlights the ways in which the hippie culture of the 1960s advanced closer relationships with the natural world and reminded us of the peace and love evoked by flowers. There are also paintings, photos, and musical events to inspire you. It’s on until October 18th and I’m planning a trip in a few weeks!

METROPOLITAN MUSEUM COSTUME ART EXHIBIT, NYC

I visited this extraordinary exhibition a month ago and was amazed at the innovative ideas presented. It features nearly 400 objects, exploring the relationship between clothing and the body, by pairing garments with pieces of fine art. It’s organized around different physical forms, like the “Naked Body” and “Classical Body,” as well as less common representations like the “Pregnant Body,” “Aging Body,” and disabled bodies. Go visit this unique presention of fashion and art on the Full Moon!

ROSSiNI’S DUET FOR 2 CATS

OK.. this one is just plain fun, in true Leo spirit! I’m sure some of you opera fans out there have heard of it, but it so tickled me that a “serious” classical composer like Rossini would create such a whimsical piece. And the playfulness these two amazing singers bring to it just adds to the experience. Enjoy!

FULL MOON PERFORMANCE AT THE TEMPLE OF APOLLO, GREECE

This is yet another wonderful resource featured in the Divine Feminine App which I subscibed to last year. It’s a live ceremony at this sacred archeological site that’s been approved by the Greek Ministry of Culture which apparently is pretty rare (dare we say quirky?!). Conceived by Apostolia Papadamaki, founder of Anamnesis (a Greek word that means, fittingly, remembrance), it will weave music, dance, and sacred text into this event at a site that celebrates a god once invoked for light, harmony, and reason. It’s not something most of us can get to, but they are looking for donations which is something I can definitely support. When you click on the image, you’ll be able to reac why this is so important for us today.

I hope some of these offerings have inspired you to tap into your own quirky, creative talents and share them in the world. I’d love to hear about them, and as always, please do share any other events or resources that have resonated with you, or that you think our Spirited Living community would love to know about.

With high Summer blessings,

Deborah
